PABLO IGLESIAS

Pablo Iglesias

Director / Founder

He studied at the prestigious Buenos Aires University, where he also taught Design and Urban Design between 1988 and 1994. While in Buenos Aires he won three Prizes in National Design Competitions, including a first prize for the Civic Centre of Las Varillas. At that time Pablo also won a scholarship for an intensive one-week design workshop with Peter Eisenman.

In 1995 he moved to Australia where he became an active member of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects acting as Juror for the Awards program and speaker at conferences. During the seven years living in Australia and working first as a partner with Gary Hunt and Partners (now Hunt Deign) and later with Total Project Group (TPG) he won several Design Awards for projects ranging from luxury hotel complexes to private housing, residential, arts and commercial projects. In 2002 he moved to England where he joined Ellis Williams Architects (EWA) upon his arrival.

With EWA Pablo designed and delivered projects in the Urban Design, Arts and Education sector, including Longley Park Sixth Form College and Mostyn Gallery which won RIBA Awards in 2005 and 2011 respectively. He led EWA’s design review panel, playing a key role in the office’s constant strive for design excellence and was Lead Designer for the Manchester Building Schools for the Future program where he developed and applied the concept of Agile Learning Spaces in 7 new schools. Pablo also lead the design of masterplans and mixed-use developments in the UK and Georgia and in 2008 was Finalist in the open International Design Competition for the proposed Mersey Observatory.

Pablo embraces working with artists. His collaborations include working with Lois Williams, Peter Fink, Jaqueline Poncelet and Noah Rose in the Oriel Mostyn, Longley Park, St Mary’s and Gorton Education Village projects respectively.

In March 2018 Pablo founded Grated Apple and since July 2018 has been committed full time to the collective.
